final quarter
1)
Stereotypes affect the peoples life’s in Bend It like Beckham, because some of the characters in the movie are going against their stereotypes so they feel happy.
For Example:
- Jess is expected to act like a Hindu to get married and have children instead of playing soccer and fulfilling her dreams
-Joe is expected to be playing soccer or coaching the men’s side instead of coaching the girls. But he coaches the girls because he enjoys it and he can’t play soccer because of his knee injury.
2) Yes, I do think stereotypes like these exist in
Australia. As in Aboriginals can run faster than white men. And that supposedly, all Aussies are portrayed with a beer in one hand, wearing a pair of Flip-Flops and that we all live in the outback.
3) I’ve seen a programme about women in motor racing, and that some people say they shouldn’t be racing. Most people wouldn’t think that women would be into motor racing, let alone actually compete in it.
4) Stereotypes come from many sources: TV, Movies, Newspapers, Magazines and many other sources
